Cardio. We said it. Stop doing endless amounts of cardio.

Here us out, cardio is a great TOOL for fat loss but it is not the basis of it. Contrary to popular belief, you maybe missing out on some serious fat loss GAINZ. Below is a list of 4 of the MOST popular myths regarding cardio and fitness. Myth #1 – For Weight-Loss, Focus on Cardio OVER Strength Training

Doing endless hours of cardio is boring to say the least! It also might be causing you to burn fewer calories overall. Strength training builds lean muscle which increases your metabolism and decreases fat storage. The more muscle you build the more calories you burn on a daily basis…Even on days you don’t workout!A resent study by the American Council on Exercise showed that Kettle Bell exercise burned up to 20 calories a minute which is the equivalent of running at a 6-minute mile pace! Maximize weight loss and boost your metabolism by incorporating resistance training up to 5 times per week.

Myth #2 – Stay in the “Fat Burning Zone” If You’re Trying to Lose Weight

Heart Rate monitoring is the BIGGEST craze in the fitness industry but is also might be the biggest myth. Although it’s true that your body does burn more fat for fuel at lower intensities (HR below 65% Max). However, that’s not what you need to be focusing on to lose fat What counts the most is the overall calorie expenditure not the fuel source. The higher intensity your workout is the more calories you burn. Period! Mix in HIT workouts, cross training, and interval training with weights to provide maximum calorie burning, muscle toning power!

Myth #3 – Cardio on an Empty Stomach Burns More Fat

You can’t drive your car without gas so why would you expect something different from your body. Carbs and Fat fuel the large muscles needed to power your training sessions and keep the intensity up. Not eating before training can lead to dehydration, fatigue, and loss of hard gained muscle. Skip the pre-gym fast and show up ready to rock! Try eating something light and easy to digest like a small piece of fruit or some yogurt with granola.

Myth #4 – If You Do Enough Cardio You Can Eat What You Want and Still Lose Weight!

You wish! Not only do we (and the machines we use) grossly over estimate the about of calories we burn, but we also underestimate the number of calories we consume.Exercise alone just isn’t effective enough to burn fat. Another resent study showed that obese people who didn’t modify their diets only burned ab out 5lbs of fat over an 8-month period only doing cardio and weights. That’s a whole lot of work for a minimal result. So, the big take a way here is that THE best way to burn fat, keep it off, boost your metabolism, and build great looking lean muscle is the combine resistance training with cardio using intervals, HIT, and cross training several times a week. What Are You Waiting For? If you want to get in the best shape of your life, now’s the time to take action! 🚨 [SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS] BMI rate in kids is skyrocketing right now and here's why. According to a new CDC report, kids’ BMI has been increasing at nearly DOUBLE the rate than it did before the pandemic began. BMI (body mass index) is a measure of weight to height that’s an “easy screening method for weight category: underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obesity.” Alarmingly, the increase was especially high in preschool and school-aged children. This is DEFINITELY something we all need to be paying attention to. There were 432,302 kids aged 2 to 19 years old in the study. They found the rate of BMI increase jumped from 0.052 (pre-pandemic) to 0.100 kg/m 2 /month during the pandemic. In more understandable terms, in August 2019, the obesity rate in the group was 19.3% (already high) … and it reached 22.4% in August 2020 and close to 25% in August 2021. We already knew that kids were gaining weight during the pandemic because of all of the changes in their daily habits …But this study shows how significant this negative impact was in just A FEW SHORT YEARS. Here’s another key finding: The CDC found that children who were already obese gained about 1 to 1.2 pounds a month, putting them on track to gain 6.1 to 7.3 pounds in 6 months. This group is gaining weight at a faster rate compared to the 2.7 pounds in those with a healthy weight. Straight from the study: “Accelerated weight gain, especially among children, can cause long-lasting metabolic changes that put children at risk for serious and costly co-occurring conditions, such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and depression.” The US already has a high level of obesity among kids, affecting more than one in six children. This is serious stuff, folks! We need to be paying attention and making sure our kids are staying ACTIVE and putting HEALTHY FOOD into their bodies. The good news is that this is ALL stuff we have control over.
