One thing I’ve noticed as I have aged from 25 to 37 is how necessary my recovery work is.

Are you still working out 6 to 7 days a week and 5 of those days are super Hard training sessions?? I figured if I take a day off then that is one extra day it will take me to reach my goal and worst of all that I would lose all of my gains. My fitness warriors I’m sure you can relate to this!

Oh boy what an ass kicker this was! When I was 25 years old yeah maybe I could handle that when I started into my 30s and I begin to get injured and random movements started becoming painful. Then my progress in the weight room stopped.

Truth of the matter is that Recovery and rest Is when the MAGIC happens. It’s when the body grows by regenerating through the repairing process.

So over the years as I studied and increased my knowledge and awareness, I began noticing certain techniques help find tune the human body. So I then began to embrace my recovery days and they soon became more interesting to do then my all out balls to the wall ass kicking hard training days were. ✅

Recovery work can take place many different ways
➡ REST - literally do nothing
➡ ACTIVE RECOVERY - this can be done in many different ways, can include playing recreational sports, working outside in the yard, or technique work with light weight. Pretty much anything that doesn’t require an all out effort.
➡ MOBILITY WORK - Critical for not only your workout days but especially your non-workout days. Plus also when you get older this starts to feel great
➡ MYOFASCIAL RELEASE -SMR is like getting a free massage. I always carry a tool around with me to get my SMR in. Whether it is a lacrosse ball to smash with or a foam roller.
➡ EAT & HYDRATE optimally-this is the bread and butter of recovery. Without the proper out of calories your body will never see progress which in turn means… You can kiss your goals goodbye!
➡ SLEEP - need I say more?
so get some lean proteins and quality complex carbs in your body right after your work out, get a good nights rest and get ready to kick ass tomorrow!
