HIT FITathlon Keeping You Motivated Through the Holidays!
.
It has been exactly 5 years since HIT FITNESS WAREHOUSE opened
it's doors. When we first introduced ourselves to the public, our methods were met with just as much adversity and questioning as they were met with excitement.
"Pushing Performance Beyond Limits" has been our motto since day 1, and watching our fellow 'Warriors' take part in what we believe to be the most effective methods in fitness, has been truly inspiring. We believe EVERYONE has an inner 'warrior athlete' and it has been our goal to help them find it thru their performance, or COMPETING.
Why Do You Compete?
Asking this simple question is a really good one:
Why do you compete? Then after a few seconds have gone by and after the INITIAL answer, ask this;
And what do you VALUE in competing? Then after a little time and an answer has been given and notes taken, ask this;
What do you enjoy MOST about competing? Take notes – listen and listen some more.Allow an open place for the answer – no judgement. It seems time goes by and things happen only to realize things may not have REALLY come together – and you finally ponder on why the heck are you doing what you are doing. The answer to these are not as important as the reflection IN IT. What YOU or someone YOU COACH are trying to get with these answers is an awareness and noticing of the why.
The Why can be many things:
- Competing will make me feel worthy
- Competing is what everyone else is doing
- Competing will make more people like me
- Competing will prove my knowledge on the subject matter
- Competing might teach some things about the unknown
- Competing is just what athletes do
- Competing will ensure others perceive me as competent
We are all strung various ways. Simply put, our uniqueness makes us worthy. Appreciating this fact takes more pressure OFF the individual and puts more ON the value of why you COMPETE. It allows the person to recognize the 'inner warrior' and appreciate the purpose.
Personally, my value is testing myself physically to see “what i am made of". But, the answer to why can vary from person to person.
What Now?
A number of HIT FIT members have been requesting the opportunity to participate in some kind of competition that is not 'too big', not 'too small', but just right. So, as the "24 Classes in 21 Days" or #24in21HFW takes place, we are going to keep our followers motivated through this challenge with our very first HIT FITathlon! 'Progressive Functional Fitness'.
The goal of the HIT FITathlon is to move high loads efficiently per the athletes body weight, see what the athletes jumping ability is, do REPEATABLE work efforts with power, perform mixed modal work (COMBINE) with efficiency and can understand pace and be as aerobic as possible for their body weight. These 5 events are simple, yet effective at finding ones level of fitness improvement by testing, and then re-testing.
So from December 1st to December 21st we are going to be including these 5 challenges in our Warrior Bootcamp classes.
Week 1: 30 rep Clean and Jerk at 75% of body weight (Males) and 50% body weight (Females). This will be done FOR TIME.
Week 2: Standing Triple Jump for distance/"Air Dyne 2 Hell"
Week 3: 1.5 mile Run/COMBINE
You guys have busted your asses at work, at the gym, and at home. Now let's find out what Competing means to you!
